Hey guys...
Wow - what a weekend. I need a vacation so I can rest up!Would you believe that brand new 1.75 liter bottle of Captain Morgan's is almost empty now!
Yikes...
FLEM was great! Thanks to everyone who made the trip. Mo, I still think your projector has the best modulation response of any one I've seen. Watching the "Linea" raster show on your rig is a real treat! And kudos to Samya for putting up with the rest of us for the entire day. She's a keeper for sure dude!
Aaron, I had a feeling that your 1 watt Kvant projector was powerful enough to light a cigarette, but now I *know* it is.Video of the "lighting" event to be posted soon. (And I won't be sticking my finger in that beam ever again!) Thanks for bringing that little beauty. Thanks too for sticking around to help me pack up!
Mark, it was great to see you again. Hope you had fun at City Walk after the graduation thing. Next time you'll have to bring your wife to the meet. We didn't really get cranked up with the simultaneous beam shows until around 8 PM, so you missed some of that, but we'll do it again at SELEM. (Man, when it finally got dark enough, those shows looked incredible!) I have some video of the Gradient Moby show that was shot at around 9 PM that looks pretty good. I'll post that later this week.
John (aka WolfBlue): Dude... You need to build a projector!Seriously, with your skills, it should be a snap! The adjustable-focus blue ray module you built was awesome. (For those here that didn't see it, it had a keyswitch, a power-on delay with audible alarm before lasing, a power-adjust knob and a focus-adjust knob, all mounted in a custom aluminum housing. Very nice!) The servo-controlled focus adjustment is a unique feature I've never seen before. Very cool! Sure hope your son wasn't too bored at the event...
Fred, it was really good to see you and Dee again. I know you've been busy lately, so it was great that you could make the trip. Sorry we couldn't get the .net link-up working... I'll do some more experimenting with that so that we'll be ready for next time. Also, I should have some more info about LivePro next time too.
And we all owe a big thanks to Steve Roberts for suggesting that we give Bruce Rodgers a call. Bruce was able to make it to the event, and he brought his buddy from Tampa (Dave) along with him. They also had an HGM5 with them, which we set up in the kitchen (running off the stove outlet) and fired up for all to see. Bruce explained the working of the rig, and showed us how to clean the brewsters and walk the mirrors. He also gave me the information I needed to get my own HGM5 working! (Woot!) As soon as I get some spare time, I'm going to fire that sucker up... Sure hope that Bruce can make it to SELEM this summer... He's our kind of people. (So is Dave!)
Once again, thanks to everyone that attended. And thanks to DZ for letting us borrow his amps. It wouldn't have been the same without the awesome sound! (Sure wish you could have made it, dude...)
Adam
PS: Richard - we had some "Skeeta-Scrim" set up, and one of the web cameras was looking through the scrim towards the projectors. That's probably the effect you saw, and yeah - it was great! That stuff really looks awesome in a dark room. Glad you enjoyed the live feed! (It got better as the night wore on. Towards the end when it was really dark, the beam shows were looking fantastic!)
I think it was a great time for all. After seeing the four RGB rigs running together all I can say is I need 3 more projectors.![]()
