    WOW!
It's correct or it is dark orange only? (or I should upgrade my glasses uh?...)

    Anyway...
    Superb color balance.
That is actually a very deep orange, the camera just doesn't pick it up so well. But having said that, it will do bronze and brown colours as well

Those 640nm lasers are incredible. For a start the red doesn't bleed into other colours as they are so tight. But the most amazing thing is how they manage to produce such deep reds. You would expect almost orange from such a short wavelength, but they somehow manage to chuck out some real crimson colours as well... I guess 445nm goes a long way towards helping that, but none the less they are a lot deeper than I expected. Well worth the money.

Very nice!, I hope your CCD chip in your camera survived all the nice beamshows.

Have you already taken a picture of a white sky after this punishment

Yes my CCD has more holes than a second hand dartboard

But I have one camera for filming/photographing lasers and one for holiday snaps...

    Hi everybody,
Very interesting topic for me, as a full beginner. People like you should be respected.
Tell me please were can I find explanations about what is and what does PASS.
Maybe somebody of you is also patient enough to redirect me to some explanations about how to choose right power of laser-modules when making a well color-balanced RGB projector.
    Thanks and keep it on!
    Adrian.

    Hi Adrian,

PASS = Professional Audience Safety System and it is a safety device made by Pangolin Laser Systems, more info here: http://www.pangolin.com/PASS/index.htm

I am sure we can all give you tips on how to build your projector... Let us know what kind of output you are after and what kind of budget you want to spend, and we'll give you some tips

I think I've seen something similar to PASS on eye-magic website.
    This is the link
    http://www.eyemagic.gr/laser-iris-colorsafe.html
Is there any difference between those systems?

How much white power do you get out of the aperture after optics and galvo's?

You can make a static beam with the abstract generator and set the size to zero, to measure the power.

At the moment I am getting 1.7 watts out the aperture unmodulated. The laser is fully balanced, ie; I get that white with all lasers running full power

I am pretty sure that I can get more out of it given the time to do some testing. First I want to clean all the optics with first contact, just need to buy myself some I think most of my losses are green, but I need to get my meter in there and test each stage of the optical train. Might need to experiment and change some of the dichros. To be honest I have had so many bookings lately, that I simply haven't had the time to test all this... but having said that, the laser has looked plenty bright enough at every show, so when I do finally get the time it will end up giving me a nice little power boost...

    Thanks for the info.

You are using laserwave dichro's right? i have similar results.

25% loss of power is normal when using laserwave dichro's, when you measure the indepenedant losses you will measure a 10% loss on each dichro for pass trough.

I think this is because of the bad Chinese AR coating.

Swapping the dichro's for better quality (no chinese ) dichro's will give the best improvement.
