PM or email me at die4laser with your snail mail addy & I'll send you a couple of Die4Drives to help your testing - you'll find they are "a bit more beefy"

From these figures, a 4mm beam with a divergence of 1mrad should be possible right?

Now all we need is green direct injection diodes

Distance 7 Meters from the diode
    Exit diameter 4mm x 1mm
Spot size approx 30mm x 10mm ( Its a bit blurd so hard to be sure due to the crap lens )

    Beam visible

Note the anode and cathode are not connected to the case just like the blue diodes, no more issues with mounting.

I suspect I'll be in for one.

Given how many people have shown interest, it may be possible to reach 50 units - does the price drop significantly then?

    Guys and gals,

Lets not get too excited until the tests are complete, just waiting for parts to confirm the specs are ok then we'll have a total up of required quantities. Looking at a few days more for results.

I do have some private none PL requests too so I think we'll easily clear 50+ and before the ordering time will re-confirm the price especially if we reach another price break.

    Best Regards

    Andy

I,m very excited!!! The package is on the way. Also i have picked up the mechanics for 5 blue modules including table for the prism pair. I had some problems with getting the beam in focus but thats al sorted. I have two nice small eliptical spots on the wall at this moment!!!

I,m now going to drink a cup of coffee so that the glue of the diode is has dryed. after this i only have to test the knive edging and when i have stacked the beams then i have proof that i can do this also with blue diodes.(i,m testing my setup with open cans right now. I use the driver from Dave (schematics by andythemechanic) to power it know.
I have a die4chill from hobbybob so i also can test it with tec. Once thats sorted i only have to wait to get my new mounts, the prisms and blue diodes. If the diodes 638 can be shaped i have a red 1 watt in no time

    Here's an interesting update,

While doing more tests today and fitting to another housing I didn't create a good thermal connection and the diode went way over temp, of course the next result was a nice little LED. Pfff I said.. Well imagine the diode looking so bright and wonderful then resorting to a nice little weak led.

I let it cool for a moment then powered it back up and it was still a LED.

Went for a coffee, 15 minutes later came back and when going to install the second test diode I thought to see how damaged the first one was and it was working again.

There i was scratching the head wondering why it was working again and decided to run it over temp again, crazy idea of course and again ended up with LD looking like a Led.

Ahh, whats going on here, left it for 15 minutes and ran it again, healthy LD again.

It does look like the LD has some thermal protection, could be wrong of course but this is what am seeing. When have finished the optical tests I will re-do this thermal destruction again and see if it keeps recovering.
