Hi Frank,
Yes I was thinking of that option too. What are you going to use as a gasket? I was thinking of of maybe getting someone with a vinyl cutter to cut a 3mm wide gasket. I'd cut it by hand but as I want to get the maximum aperture from the window I thought it might be a bit. I can't afford to make the gasket too wide as I'm struggling for aperture as I mounted the scanners a bit further back to allow for scan through gratings ect.
what window are you using?
edmund optics doa range of square and round windows up to something like 5inchs?
they arent cheap but amazing quality and with a 6w rgb unit you want amazing quality

Thanks guys, it's settled. I'm making a retainer and gasket.
Yeah it's an Edmunds CDAR window. I haven't peeled off the blue protective coating yet but it's like there is no window from what I hear.
That is a good way to go imho
Is it too late (and acceptable) to incorporate a machined output glass holder on the outside of the enclosure similar to Andy's (iirc?) that can retain the glass on a gasket and maximise internal free space? It can also have a few tapped holes in to allow for beam masks or safety lenses etc..
Sounds like Frank has the same stuff I have here, self-adhesive neoprene rubber tape/gasket (thanks Mark) that is great for this kind of thing and sealing up optical chambers. Available from a couple of mil' thick for not a lot of cash.. try ebay, or I can send you some if you're stuck

A little bit werrrr, a little bit weyyyyyy, a little bit arrrrgggghhh
No it's not too late, I'm tidying up these few loose ends right now. I was thinking of holding it captive from the inside to keep the front flush. Hmm,let me see what I can come up with.
Thanks for the foam offer. Luckily Ive got a place close by that's got heaps of the stuff.
Amazing work Kit! I've been interested in seeing how this beauty's been shaping up.
Good chatting with you earlier, let me know how you go.
