Edit: deleted what I really think about this situation. The calmer version is:

    -
    1) I have not received a replacement and an email sent asking about it went unanswered (par for the course).
    2) Removing support from Spaghetti because this DAC is not ready for prime time and the developer does not respond to emails or provide customer support in a meaningful or timely way.
    -
DAC sold - so removed contact info and offer to sell.

I'm sorry you are having issues with your Etherdream, Gary. The vast majority of us have had positive experiences with our etherdreams. I have nine Etherdreams and have only had issues with them when running conflicting versions of the firmware. I have 3 other types of DACs and have had more technical issues with those than I have had with the Etherdream. I even shorted one of my Etherdreams out and had it survive without issue. Not to mention Swamidog has won 7 ILDA awards recording content from one.

I'm sure J4cbo will get you your $$$ back or get you a replacement. Not everyone is as quick to respond to technical requests as the author of Spaghetti, but I wouldn't close the door on them for that.

I am fine with issues as long as there is acknowledgement and feedback about how they will be addressed. Besides my issue, the Etherdream driver is unfit for use because it logs to the Program Files directory. That isn't acceptable. I reported that and there was no response. I also found firmware bug when I was using the OSC commands and reported that. Again, no response to it. So, not only does my Etherdream not function properly, I have found driver and firmware problems that exist for EVERYONE that has the DAC.

The ideal situation would be that when I found a problem with my DAC that I would get some sort of response with an agreeable resolution or solution. So far, 3 weeks later, I am still wondering what is going on. The driver and firmware problems would be acknowledged and I would be either given a suitable work around or be assured they would be fixed. But, I was ignored. There are reports of integration problems by other users in this forum and elsewhere that I found. I don't believe j4cbo has responded to any of those.

So, when you tell me you are sure I will be given a refund or a new DAC I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling.

Received a replacement DAC from j4cbo yesterday. Tested it. Output looks exactly the same as the one I already had. That is with LFI Player displaying ILDA test player using EasyLase and EasyAudDac modes. When I unplug the EtherDream and plug in the RIYA and then run LFI Player with the same settings but with the RIYA DAC the output looks perfect.

So, with two different Etherdreams the output looks like garbage using LFI Player. Output looks the same using Spaghetti so the only common piece is the Etherdream DACs and the EtherDream DLL or my network. I am curious if anyone else with an Etherdream can get a solid looking ILDA test pattern with LFI Player. One of the DACs has firmware 0.5.4 and one has 0.5.5 so it happens with different firmware versions.

At this point I can only assume that there is something special about how LSX interfaces with that manages to make the DAC actually work right but that the driver DLL that is offered on the Etherdream website is buggy or doesn't interface correctly with the DAC.

How about some pics / video of the output.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Does your EtherDream display the ILDA pattern correctly if you use LFI Player?

i've only used LSX and there are no output issues with ED and LSX.

Exactly. But, LSX doesn't use the Etherdream DLL that is provided for use for others.

i think the only difference between the etherdream.dll LSX uses and the public one is the inclusion of code for protected show playback. i can ping drlava and j4cbo verify.

Would you mind taking a few minutes to try LFI player? It is a free download and takes about 5 minutes to run the test.
